VMware のゲスト OS で、USB エミュレータを動かす

私は仕事柄、DSP のデバッグ用 JTAG エミュレータを使っているのですが、今まで、これが VMware Workstation のゲスト OS 上で動作しないので困っていました。
今日も懲りずに試したところ、やはり動きません。しかし悔しくて、何が問題なのか調べようと、評価版の USB プロトコルアナライザソフトウェアをダウンロードしてみました。

にある AGGsoftware の Advanced USB Port Monitor 2.0.1 というものです。

するとどうでしょう! 今まで全く認識されなかった USB エミュレータが認識されたではないですかーー。（ちょっと興奮して、キーボードが滑っています。）
以下、使用した環境とソフトを書いておきます。ご参考になれば幸いです。

  • PC: Dell Latitude D610
  • Debugger: Code Composer Studio 2.20, 3.2
  • Target Board: Texas Instruments C6455 DSK (Spectrum Digital)
  • VMware: Workstation 4.5.3 build-19414
  • Host OS: 英語版 Windows XP (SP2)
  • Guest OS: 日本語版 Windows 2000 (SP4)
  • Debugger: TI Code Composer Studio 3.2
  • Emulator Driver: 3.02.08 [30-Mar-2006]
  • USB Protocol Analyzer: AGGsoftware Advanced USB Port Monitor 2.0.1 build 5

後記

USB Port Monitor を購入する場合は、Lite 版で大丈夫です。€17 くらいだったかな。最新の 2.1.0.12 版で動作しています。

USB JTAG emulator operates on VMware guest OS

So far, I could not establish USB JTAG emulator connection on VMware guest OS (Microsoft Windows 2000 Japanese Edition). However, today I have found that it has successfully operated when I had run a USB protocol analyzer (evaluation version) in parallel with debugger.
The environment and software I have evaluated are as follows. For your reference and memorandum for myself. :)
